Route 01 · On the ground in the USA

Local knowledge.
Expert preparation.

We find and purchase vehicles in our local sourcing areas, then work with local experts on necessary mechanical repairs and preparation before container shipping.

    Find the right vehicle

    We source vehicles locally across Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, looking for the American cars and trucks that fit your brief.

    Purchase in the USA

    Once the vehicle and purchase arrangements are agreed, we buy it and organise the next stage with our local contacts.

    Local expert preparation

    Local experts carry out any necessary mechanical repairs and prepare the vehicle for its journey to the UK.

    Prepare for the container

    The vehicle is prepared for container shipping, with collection, loading and export arrangements coordinated for the journey.

    Cross the Atlantic

    The container travels to the UK. The shipping plan and expected timings are discussed for each individual vehicle.

    Arrive at our UK warehouse

    After port arrival and the necessary import arrangements, the vehicle is transported to our UK warehouse for the next agreed stage.

Route 02 · Online opportunities

Auction find.
UK destination.

We purchase through online auctions and arrange shipping directly to our UK warehouse. The vehicle follows an export and transport route, with its next stage planned in the UK.

    Search online auctions

    We look for suitable vehicles through online auctions, including Copart, Capital Auto Auction and Bring a Trailer.

    Review and purchase

    We review the available listing information and agree the purchase plan before bidding. A successful purchase starts the shipping process.

    Arrange collection & export

    We arrange collection from the seller or auction location and onward transport for export to the UK.

    Ship directly to the UK

    This route moves the purchased vehicle into the shipping process for our UK warehouse, rather than through our local US repair route.

    Receive at our warehouse

    Following port arrival and import arrangements, the vehicle comes to our UK warehouse, where its condition and next steps can be reviewed.

I’m Doug Walford, the person behind American Exports.

My background is in technology and business, and I travel back and forth between the UK and the US. With our bases in Keedysville, Maryland and Wivelsfield Green, England, this is a business built around my connection to both countries.

I’m bringing that transatlantic perspective to sourcing American cars and trucks for people in the UK. Whether we find a vehicle locally or through an online auction, I want you to understand the route it takes, the work involved and what happens next.

And this is Frazer, my bulldog and companion—adding a little personality to the journey.
